i pray with my body: moving meditation

This space is an ongoing creative social justice and healing project created by Nandani to explore what it means to be queer Diaspora Dakini through movement. Dakini are the Shakti Deities residing within the base of the spine in the muladhara (root) chakra. Dakini activations are housed in Buddhist and Hindu practices. Through this shakti movement practice we embrace our intersections and get closer to the vast multi-dimensionality that we are. Dance is a manifesting tool, a practice of reclaiming our bodies from harm and under-being. from white supremacy and shame – a tool of remembering indigeneity, embodying queerness and transness in its collective cosmic truth.

Welcome to this intuitive practice aligned with the present astrological cycle of the moon. This class will include: restorative asana (physical poses), pranayama (breath work), dhyana (meditation), affirmations, philosophy, and whatever else the moon calls us to do! Modifications and alternatives will always be offered, and you will never be forced to place your body in an uncomfy situation. The goal of class is to bring balance back to your mind, body and spirit. Some weeks we may incorporate shadow work, chakra work, and anything else we feel intuitively called towards. While we live within a capitalistic society, we must treat ourselves to as much slowness and gentleness as possible!

Yoga Nidra

Through intetion setting, students will be guided to shift consciousness throughout the body. Sunaina will guide class with optional
intention/journal questions, transitioning to beginner asana movement, and then deepen into a nourishing guided yoga nidra practice. Add this tool of mind-balance to your yoga toolbox! This class has a very meditative and expansive feel. It’s ok if you fall asleep, however, the deeper you get into practice, the more you may find a space between waking and sleep; a field of awareness with infinite potential.

Twerk is Energy Work

November 18, 25, Dec 2, 9, 16, 23. 11 am 12 pm EST.

In this six session interactive discussion and demonstration series, Savannah will guide participants through the use of Twerk as a Spiritual Liberation Practice. Topics discussed will include the somatics of shaking, Twerk as Ancestor work, appropriation vs. appreciation, and decolonizing your dance practice. We will also be dancing in every session! Savannah will help you safely #throwthatassinahealingcircle by guiding you through hip stretches and conditioning exercises before teaching the basics of Twerk from stances to moves. Some choreography will be taught but there will be ample chances for improvisation and free dancing. Mimicking choreography is not the point. Let these sessions be an invitation to explore what a personal Twerk practice can be.

Attendees will not be required to have their cameras during the movement portions of the session. This work is deeply personal and you are not expected to perform. You will need a clean, uncluttered space to dance. Wear comfortable clothing that allows your body to move freely. No- or low- compression activewear is recommended. You want that booty to shake! Knee pads or over the knee socks are also recommended. So is water, a yoga mat, and a towel.

Ancestral Elemental Healing

Date/time: November 11, 1:11pm – 2:22pm Pacific / 4:11 – 5:22pm Eastern

Remember who you are in this gentle community care circle. Facilitator Camellia Lee will guide Five-Element movement and Taoist meditation to plug back into supportive cosmic energies. In the Five-Element framework, the directions, planets, and constellations mirror the seasons and our bodies. Through visualization and simple movement, participants will tune back into what Ni Hua-Ching calls “the universal energy net” that connects all things. These ancient powers far predate contemporary oppressive forces, and they will outlast all empires. The sun and moon know your name and want to give you the energy to fulfill your purpose and heal your lineages.

Community Circle

There are many different kinds of circles that can be formed with different intentions. Community circles are held with the intention of building community. Community circle is a space we hold for each other to deepen our relationships to each other and connection to self. It is a space for authentic expression of our individuality as we build our understanding of how we can exist and support each other in community. In this space we will discuss different topics with the intention of deepening our understanding of community and what it means to show up for ourselves and others.

“I have taken asana classes, meditation, single day workshops, and now a 5 week workshop with Alchemystic Studio. Each spaces brings the same enthusiasm and openness to each, using trauma-informed teaching to help guide every meeting with compassion and wisdom. I attended the “Our Shadows” workshop, a 5 week container where we were guided through shadow work. Shadow work is acknowledging the “darker” parts of yourself, and learning to work with them and integrate them into your whole being. It’s heavy and vulnerable work, and the facilitators made all attendants feel safe to share and to ultimately grow. They did the work alongside us, never feeling aloof or out of reach. This was an amazing workshop and I’d love to take more, whether on the same subject or a different one. I have a lot of shyness and anxiety, so the fact that I was able to speak up in every class and share myself with these people who started as strangers… that should say it all.”

Jae (they/them)

“I cannot say enough about how grateful I am for my new Meditation practice.

With all that is currently happening in the world, having someone like Meesha to guide my meditation has been life-changing. Like me, she is an activist and understands what that entails but also shares ways to guard your energy and find your peace. Even virtually, she knows how to deeply connect with you and gauge your feelings and what you need that day. It is truly a super power that she uses for good and we are all better for it.”

Brittany-Laurelle (she/her)

“As a queer South Asian american looking for ways to build community and practice yoga in a way that feels authentic and honors my indigeneity, Alchemystic Studio feels like coming home. I deeply appreciate the space that Meesha has intentionally built. I first participated in the brown & queer container and connected with community from all over the world while learning the history of queerness in South Asia. I subsequently joined the deep dive container where we are learning the 8 limbs of yoga through a lens of decolonization. I am so thankful for this opportunity to connect to community, myself, and the divine through the sacred teachings of Alchemystic Studio. I look forward every week to being in the deep dive container because it provides me the opportunity to be in community while also giving to myself. It’s a simultaneous act of self care and collective support and I am so grateful for these teachings and the space.”
